History and iconography

Bamberg (1237)   The depiction of justice as a woman with a scale and sword (or book) probably dates from a remote period of Roman art. A Sermon on the Rosary received by
St. Dominic from the very hands of Our Lady.

This miraculous institution of the Holy Rosary, which bears some resemblance to the manner in which God promulgated His law on Mount Sinai, evidently manifests the excellence of this divine practice.
