Domingos Jorge was born in Vermoim da Maia, near Porto (Portugal). Very young, she left for India, where she fought for faith and homeland.

Out of kindness and pity, they received two Jesuit missionaries at their home, Father Carlos Spinola, Italian, and Brother Ambrose Fernandes, a native of the Schist settlement, in the Diocese of Porto.
At 11 pm on December 13, 1618, the feast of St. Luzia, the governor of Nagasaki ordered the arrest of the two missionaries together with Domingos Jorge.
After a year in prison, they were sentenced to several Orders, sentenced to slow fire; the other 32 consisted of 14 women and 18 men (most of this second group were sentenced to be beheaded).
